The best Home Assistant dashboard in 2026? Mega Dashboard vs Mushroom, Dwains, floor3d and the built-in editor

Updated 7 October 2026

In short. There's no single best dashboard — it depends on how you like to build. If you want a finished dashboard from your own rooms and devices, a 3D plan and an editor that works right on the screen, try Mega Dashboard for Home Assistant. If you love building card by card, Mushroom is excellent. If you want a real rotating 3D model, look at floor3d. If open source matters most to you, all the others are open source and Mega Dashboard is not.

When Mega Dashboard is the right choice

  • You want a complete dashboard tonight, not a project for the next month. The wizard builds it from your home in about five minutes.
  • You want to change things by tapping them, with undo and a history, instead of editing YAML or card forms.
  • You want a 3D plan of the home with your devices on it, without modelling the house in Blender.
  • The dashboard goes on a wall tablet and should be really full screen, with its own layout for the tablet and the phone.
  • You'd like it in Bulgarian or English.

When something else fits better

  • You only use open-source software. Mega Dashboard is free but closed source; every other option here is open source.
  • You enjoy building card by card and want full control over every card: the built-in editor with Mushroom is a great combination.
  • You need a real 3D model you can rotate and fly through: floor3d-card.
  • You want a hand-drawn plan with total control over every shape: ha-floorplan.

Can I use them together?

Yes. Mega Dashboard creates its own dashboard and doesn't touch the ones you already have. Pages you made by hand inside it are left as they are, and the full card editor lets you add any card you like — including Mushroom cards.
